In this documentation, I will discuss on the design of the battle room from the battle school.
- Concept:
The concept for the design is the battle room that appears in the book Ender’s Game. In the book, Ender goes to Battle School and has mock battles with other armies in the Battle room.
The mock battles are fought in zero gravity and the battles usually involve 2 armies at the same time. But later in the book, there will be 3 or 4 armies in the battle room at the same time. The battles are to simulate battles in space.
The battle room is a battle simulation room where 2 opposing armies will face each other in flash suits and laser guns. When one is shot by the laser guns in a flash suit, the flash suit will froze, immobilizing the wearer.
At first the battle room is empty with only the combatants in the room, later the teachers at the battle school will add obstacles in the battle rooms which the combatants called ‘stars’. The stars are either randomly or symmetrical distributed.
- Objective:
The objective of the game is to reach the opponents door and pass thru it. But the condition is 4 members of the army must touch their helmet on the 4 lighted corners of the door to disarm the forcefield on the door and a fifth member to pass thru the door.
- Design:
The battle room itself will be in the shape of square box. Inside the box there will be a hexagon sphere.
In each hexagon there will be a door. Only 2 doors will be unlocked. The unlocked doors will be the target of capture by the opposing armies.
Door design
When a door is unlocked, it will be closed by a forcefield. Only the army that has been assigned to that door is allowed to go thru the forcefield. There are handles on the side of the door to help the combatants enter the door and to help the opposing army position themselves on the lighted corner. The opposing army must send 4 of their members to use their helmets to light up the 4 corners of their opponents door. Then the forcefield will subside and a fifth member has to go thru the door for the winning condition.

There will be obstacles in the battleroom. It will be in the form of stars and other combatants.
The obstacles:
- stars (static)
- The stars will be in the form of brown boxes.
- It be distributed randomly or symmetrically depending on the difficulty level.
- It will stay in its position.
- Can be used as covers or strategic position for snipers.
- stars (floating) –
- The stars will be in the form of brown boxes.
- It will be distributed randomly or symmetrically depending on the difficulty level.
- It will not stay in its position, instead it will float around.
- Can be used as covers, but only for a short time.
- The star’s direction can be changed by hitting it with enough force.
- other combatants
- Other combatants can be the opponent or ally.
- Players can use frozen opponent or ally to jump across the room.
- Players can also use allies as leverage to spring in a certain direction.
